Kyiv: The situation in Eastern Ukraine deteriorates, so the foreign ministers of the Normandy format, except Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, keep in touch, Front News International quoted Ukrainian Foreign minister Pavlo Klimkin as saying on Wednesday. Klimkin was speaking at a briefing on the results of his talks with his Swiss counterpart Didier Burkhalter.
“We emphasized on the situation in Donbas. We have observed a real deterioration of the situation. Russia is deliberately destabilizing the situation,” Klimkin said. He added that he is in constant touch with the foreign ministers of France and Germany within the framework of the Normandy format. According to Klimkin, he had a detailed conversation with the French foreign minister “to stop the deliberate escalation of the situation.”
“That is why we will do everything possible to turn the situation back to lesser deterioration in the sphere of security and to achieve progress in freeing hostages.
Earlier, Olena Zerkal, deputy head of Ukraine’s foreign minister, said a meeting I the Normandy format could be held this summer.
