KYIV (FNI) - Dr. Rashed Al-Adwani, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Ukraine, said on Wednesday that the countries have simplified the visa regime after the liberalization law has recently came into force, Front News International correspondent reports.

State of Kuwait has visa-free movement with ID card valid among the Gulf countries: Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman. Citizens of the European Union, the United States, Canada and other countries can apply for visas at airports in Kuwait or for online e-visa.

"At the airport in Kuwait a citizen of Ukraine will be able to issue a visa in less than half an hour. If this is done through the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs it is necessary to fill out a application and within 48 hours a citizen will be able to receive an electronic visa," Ambassador said at a meeting with journalists in the building of the Embassy of Kuwait to Ukraine in Kyiv.

An electronic visa will be assigned to a certain number and a citizen of Ukraine will be able to present it at the border control in Kuwait, and the cost of an e-visa or the one issued by the border service at the airport will cost $10. The period of stay will be 90 days. Such rules apply to citizens of Ukraine and Kuwaiti nationals.

"In March this year the second visit of the President of Ukraine to Kuwait took place. The first visit was in 2003, when President Kuchma came. The visit of President Poroshenko was very important. During the visit, the countries agreed on visa liberalization. On the day of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kuwait and Ukraine, on March 18, we announced that now citizens of Ukraine will be able to obtain visas directly at the airport or via electronic form. Kuwaiti nationals will also be able to obtain a visa at Ukrainian airports or e-visa." Ambassador added.
