MOSCOW (FNI) - Moscow's Tagansky court upheld the suit of Russian Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) and decided to block Telegram on the territory of Russia.
Roskomnadzor filed a lawsuit with the court to restrict access to the information resources of the Telegram Messenger Limited Liability Partnership.
In June 2017, Roskomnadzor introduced Telegram to the register of information dissemination organizers. In response, Telegram's messenger team developed an update with the option to bypass the lock in Russia. Although the creator of the Telegram Pavel Durov announced that he does not object to the inclusion of the messenger in the register and the registration data of the company are open and accessible to all.
