MOSCOW (FNI) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced that several British diplomats will be expelled from the country in response to statements by the British Prime Minister Theresa May.
He did not name any exact dates, nor the number of expelled British embassy personnel.
"The answer will be very soon. I assure you." Lavrov said at the forum "Russia is a country of opportunities" in response to a question about the possibility of expulsion of British diplomats.
British Prime Minister Theresa May moved on Wednesday to expel 23 Russian diplomats from the U.K. after Moscow blew past a U.K.-imposed deadline to explain the poisoning of the Skripals. The Russians have denied any role in the attack.
“They have treated the use of a military-grade nerve agent in Europe with sarcasm, contempt and defiance,” May said, referring to the Russians.
