CARACAS (FNI) - Venezuela is ready to stand in the face of the oil embargo threat, Nicolás Maduro, President of Venezuela says, commenting on a possible embargo on its oil exports to the US.
" US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson threatened us with an oil embargo while visiting Argentina. Workers of the oil industry, we are threatened by imperialism, we are ready to be free, no one and nothing will ever stop us, " Maduro says.
Rex W. Tillerson, United States Secretary of State, during his visit to Buenos Aires on Sunday, February 4th, said that the US government "continues to consider the oil sanctions, namely, a ban on the oil supply from Venezuela to the United States”. According to the head of the US foreign policy department, the US is also considering the possible embargo effects on the American business.
Last summer Donald Trump, President of United States, issued a decree on imposing new sanctions against Venezuela.
American companies are not allowed to conduct financial transactions with new promissory notes of government securities and the state oil company PDVSA.
The US is permanently one of the largest importers of Venezuelan oil.
