ANKARA (FNI) -  Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that the "terrorists" in the Syrian cities of Afrin and Manbij can not escape liquidation.

Erdoğan keeps saying on that the Olive Branch operation launched by the Turkish forces against the Kurdish People’s defence units in Afrin area northern Aleppo will continue until ‘the last terrorist is neutralized in this area’.

“Just as the terrorists in Jarabulus and Al-Bab weren’t able to escape elimination, the terrorists in Afrin and Manbij won’t be able to escape the bitter end awaiting them, either." Erdoğan tolt at at AK Party’s Provincial Congress in town of Çorum.

Turkish army fighting against Kurdish militia (YPG) near Afrin. YPG is a part of the larger umbrella in Eastern Syria of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) which is a key partner of the US in fighting ISIS over the last several years. From the Turkish government point of view, YPG is actually connected to the PKK, the Kurdish Workers Party, which Turkish authorities announced as the terrorist organization and Turkey has been fighting it for decades.

Turkey launched the Olive Branch military operation against ISIS and the Kurdish forces in northeast Syria on January 20th, 2018. Since then 108 targets have been hit in Afrin. Kurdish forces claim that 10 people were killed in the missile attacks on January 20th. Turkish Army Units crossed the border with Syria in the area of Afrin launching an attack on the Kurdish Self-Defense Forces.

France initiated an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council due to military operation of Turkey in the Syrian province of Afrin.

Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, denied the information of civilians deaths during the Olive Branch operation in Afrin on January 22.
