LVIV (FNI) – On Thursday, January 18, Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine has started a meeting in Lviv with Julie Payette, the Governor General of Canada, in order to discuss the issues of further cooperation.
“I am glad to welcome Julie Payette, the Governor General of Canada, and the Canadian delegation visiting Ukraine” – said Poroshenko.
In the evening of January 17, Payette landed in Lviv in order to show her support to Canadian soldiers in Ukraine, who will take part in UNIFIER operation.
In the morning of January 18, she visited the ATO Heroes Memorial and met with the members of Canadian and Ukrainian armed forces at the military police training centre, which was established with the help of Canadians in 2017, as part of the UNIFIER operation. Afterwards, the Governor General of Canada started her meeting with Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine, in order to discuss the bilateral relations between Canada and Ukraine.
In September 2017, Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada, said that Canada will continue to cooperate with Ukraine in order to ensure its security and sovereignty.
