Kyiv: As a result of the Holodomor in Ukraine in 1923-1933, 3 million 943 thousand Ukrainians were killed. This is stated in the study of the Institute of Demography.
According to the study, the loss of population in Ukraine amounted to about 13% in general, among them the villagers, 16%, suffered most. In total, 8.7 million people died as a result of the famine in the territory of the USSR. The most affected were Ukraine and Kazakhstan.
It is noted that the results of the study were formed from the population census data for 1926 and 1939. However, according to the historian Vladimir Sergiychuk, it is impossible to believe the censuses that took place after 1933, as the central instructions of the Central Committee of the CPSU falsified the figures to reduce the number of official losses.
The Holodomor of the Ukrainian people was conducted by the Soviet authorities during 1932-1933. The most affected were the villagers, in whom food was forcibly seized. In 2006, the Ukrainian parliament officially recognized the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people, 16 countries joined the decision, including the United States, Canada, Poland, Georgia and others.
