Kyiv: With the support of the UN Human Rights Mission, since June 2015, with the support of the Russian-backed militants of the DPR faction, it was possible to take 166 prisoners to the territory controlled by the Ukrainian government, who started serving their sentences in prisons before the military conflict in eastern Ukraine. This was stated in the exclusive comment by Front News International by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Valery Lutkovskaya.

"If we are talking about prisoners before the military conflict in the east of Ukraine, then from the territory of the so-called "DPR" that was not controlled by the Ukrainian authorities, 166 people were taken out. Thanks to the mediation of the UN Mission for Human Rights, such an agreement was reached. Since June 2015, there have been approximately three to four movements of these people each year. Unfortunately, representatives of the so-called "LPR" failed to reach an agreement. I'm ready to come to any place, I'm ready to take everyone, but people do not give up from the "LPR", Lutkovskaya said.

On Tuesday, November 7, First Vice Speaker of the Parliament Irina Gerashchenko stated that 152 Ukrainians are in captivity of militants in the occupied territory of the east of Ukraine. More than 40 Ukrainian citizens are political prisoners in Russia.
