Paris: Tunisian fashion designer Azzedine Alaia died in Paris at the age of 77 years.
Alaia moved to Paris in 1957, when he was 17.
In 1980, he released the first collection of pret-a-porter and in 1984 he received the French Ministry of Culture award as a designer of the year.
Among the famous fashion designer's clients are Marie-Helene de Rothschild, the wife of Baron Guy de Rothschild, actress Greta Garbo, wife of 44th US President Michelle Obama, singer Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Madonna, Janet Jackson, and actress Mariyon Cotillard.
A number of celebrities have already expressed regrets about the death of a beloved fashion designer.
"Rest in peace, another of my favorite designer," said singer Deborah Cox.
Victoria Beckham also commented on Alaia's death: "A sad day, rest in peace." You were a true master and one of my biggest inspirations."
