Barcelona: Carles Puigdemont, the president of the Catalan women's professional, will make a statement today and probably announce early elections in Catalonia.

"President Carles Puigdemont will make an official statement today at the Palace of the Professional," the statement in the website of the Catalan women's analyst said.

According to sources from La Vanguardia, Puigdemont will not announce Catalonia's independence today, instead he will schedule early elections on December 20. He has already informed his parliamentary group about this.

Such a decision was made so that Madrid did not apply article 155 of the Spanish Constitution.

The Senate of Spain tomorrow, October 27, will consider the activation of Article 155.

On Sunday, October 1, the Catalan authorities held a referendum on independence from Madrid. During the referendum, 844 people were injured.

The leader of Catalonia Puigdemont signed a document on 10 October, which the authorities of the north-eastern autonomy of Spain call the "declaration of independence" from Madrid, but immediately stopping its implementation.

Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, speaking at an emergency meeting of the Council of Ministers on the situation in Catalonia, demanded that the head of the Government of the region Carles Puigdemont clarify whether independence of the autonomy was declared.

The President of the Government of Catalonia Carles Puigdemont on October 16 asked the Prime Minister of Spain, Mariano Rajoy, to hold a two-month dialogue, but did not specify whether Catalonia's independence was declared.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Catalonia Raul Roma stated on October 18 that Catalonia will not give up its desire for independence, even if Spain applies the article of the Constitution on the suspension of the region's autonomous status.
