Kyiv: A meeting of experts of the United States and of Ukraine on Working Group on the Non-Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction - Nuclear, Chemical and Biological, was held in Kyiv, Tuesday, October 24.
Experts from both sides gathered to discuss a number of problems of non-proliferation, combating proliferation and strategic trade control. They also discussed how countries can best cooperate to solve these problems, the press service of the US State Department informs.
"In the light of the growing threat from the DPRK's nuclear and ballistic missile program, this meeting focused on promoting the effective and reliable implementation of trade-related strategic measures and all relevant UN Security Council resolutions, including 2270 and 2321," said in the report.
UN Resolution 2270 was adopted on March 2, 2016 in response to the fourth nuclear test of North Korea on January 6, 2016 and the launch on February 7, 2016 of a long-range missile that the DPRK authorities were issuing for a satellite carrier. UN Resolution 2321 refers to the sanctions in response to the nuclear tests of the DPRK on September 9, 2016.
