Tbilisi: After the voting process, an information briefing was held at the Central Election Commission. CEC representative Anna Mikeladze stated that by 8:00 pm 45.65% (1569992) of voters took part in the voting. Turnout in Tbilisi was 43.4%. At 20:00 all polling stations were closed.
As Mikeladze told journalists, at the local government elections in 2014 at the same time voter turnout was 43.31%.
"Today, the CEC information center is open around the clock. All day, from 07:00 to 20:00, 1,468 calls and 134 messages via online chat. Most of them checked the data on the list and were interested in electoral procedures.
The election day at the polling stations, basically, was held in a peaceful atmosphere. There were no special incidents, except for certain procedural violations, for which the election administration will have a corresponding response. Most importantly, voters could freely register their will throughout the day, from 20:00, after the voting process was over, the counting procedure began.
After the final precinct protocols have been drawn up, the relevant district commissions will provide them to the CEC as soon as possible and they will be downloaded in a phased manner on the website www.results.cec.gov.ge. It should be reminded that precinct election commissions should count ballots of three types and, accordingly, draw up three final protocols.
“At the same time, everyone will be able to observe the process of calculating the preliminary results of the CEC by means of an Internet broadcast, which can be used using 360-degree technology on the official websites of the CEC - Facebook and Youtube,” Anna Mikeladze said.
"Most of the complaints were received in the districts concerned the requirements to bring to the disciplinary responsibility of the members of the commissions, and there is a certain part of complaints related to procedural violations, and they require study and appropriate response," the CEC said.
