Moscow: On Monday, October 16, the delegations of the DPRK and South Korea will meet during the Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in St. Petersburg. They will discuss the settlement of the conflict on the Korean peninsula with the head of the Federation Council of Russia, Valentina Matvienko.
"Both meetings will be held on the 16th, that's for sure. I think in the course of the Russian side will call for direct contacts, it would be natural, but, of course, we can not force anyone and will not even try. We are convinced supporters that the solution of any problems should be through direct dialogue between the conflicting parties, "Konstantin Kosachev, head of the Council of Foreign Affairs Committee of the Council of Federation, told Tass.
It is reported that Russia was the initiator of the direct dialogue between the parties.
Earlier, the Council of the European Union extended sanctions against North Korea in accordance with the latest resolution of the UN Security Council.
