Berlin: Since November 2016, after the victory of Donald Trump in the US presidential election, the number of US citizens who want to obtain the passport of a German citizen is increasing. This is written by Deutsche Welle with reference to the data of the German Foreign Ministry.
Statistics show that in the first half of 2017, US citizens received more applications for obtaining German citizenship than for the entire 2016 year.
So, during 2016 the desire to obtain a passport of Germany was found by 792 US citizens, then only for the first half of 2017 there were already 940 such people.
The German Foreign Ministry also reported that 250 more applications for German citizenship from the Americans were received in July and August this year.
It should be added that among those who applied for German citizenship, there are those who once emigrated from Germany to the United States. This should include the victims of the Nazi regime or the descendants of those who during the reign of the Nazis from 1933 to 1945 were deprived of German citizenship.
