Kyiv: The Georgian national football team for boys under seventeen won the tournament in memory of the first president of the Ukrainian Football Federation, Viktor Bannikov.
In the final match, the Georgians defeated the national team of Israel with a score of 4: 1. A great contribution to the victory was made by the team captain Zuriko Davitashvili, who scored twice before the sixth minute of the match. The Israelis, in the end, could not oppose something to the charges of Giorgi Nemsadze and suffered a crushing defeat.
The third place in the tournament was left for the Ukrainian team, which managed in the decisive meeting with the Slovaks with the score 2: 0.
The Georgian youth team won the tournament for the second time in a row. After the restoration of the competition in 2016, one team never managed to take away the title from the Georgians.
Let's note, in 2014 and 2015 the tournament was not held because of the aggression of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, because of which the participating teams from other countries refused to fly to Ukraine.
Victor Bannikov was the first chairman of the Football Federation of Ukraine and headed it from 1991 to 1996. After his death in 2001, the tournament was approved by the memory of Viktor Bannikov, held annually. The Ukrainian youth team with five triumphs remains the champion in terms of the number of victories.
