Ambassador Olesya Ilashchuk, appointed despite her lack of experience, started work in Bulgaria

Olesya Ilashchuk, appointed in December 2022 as Ukraine's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Bulgaria, arrived in Sofia and began her duties.

This information was confirmed to "European Truth" by the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Oleg Nikolenko.

Heads of structural divisions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also informed by the embassy about the start of Ilashchuk's work in Bulgaria in an internal newsletter.

Olesya Ilashchuk, who was appointed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyi as Ukraine's ambassador to Bulgaria, has no experience of working in either diplomacy or government positions, and so far has positioned herself as an expert in sexology and precious jewelry.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs later stated that Ilashchuk has the necessary qualifications for the diplomatic service - a diploma with honors in the specialty "Local Studies" of the Yuriy Fedkovich Chernivtsi National University. And after evaluating Ilashchuk's candidacy, the Bulgarian government "without delay" granted her an agreement, "without any reservations about her work in Bulgaria."

It will be recalled that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, explained that he does not see a problem in the appointment of Olesya Ilashchuk as the ambassador of Ukraine to Bulgaria, but he is ready to fire her in the future if the ambassador's work is unsatisfactory.
