The Odesa City Council voted to demolish and move the monuments to Catherine II and Suvorov

Deputies of the Odesa City Council voted to dismantle and move the monument to the founders of Odesa, in particular Empress Catherine II, and commander Oleksandr Suvorov. This became known during the session, which was broadcast on the YouTube channel of the city hall.

 

 43 deputies (97.7%) voted for dismantling and moving the monument to Catherine II to the museum.

 

 The same actions regarding the Suvorov monument were supported by 41 deputies (93.2%).

 

 The monuments will be in Odesa Art Museum for temporary storage until the creation of the park complex "Imperial and Soviet Past". Oleksandr Kovalchuk, the head of the institution and deputy from the "servants of the people", made a proposal to move the sculptures to the museum.
