Moldova will ask Romania for protection in case of a threat from Russia

Moldova is concerned about Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine and is preparing for a worst-case scenario. In the event of an attack by Moscow, Chisinau will ask for help from Romania. This was reported by Deschide, which quoted Moldovan President Maia Sandu as saying.

After a meeting with her Romanian counterpart Klaus Johannis, the politician said that her country is closely monitoring the situation in Ukraine.

"We are concerned. We are considering the most pessimistic scenarios. Accordingly, we are preparing for all scenarios. And in a situation where Russia will try to attack Moldova, we will obviously ask for help," Sandu said.

For his part, Iohannis said that Romania remains the closest to Moldova and will not leave it, regardless of the scenario in which Eastern Europe will find itself as a result of the unfortunate war that Russia unleashed against Ukraine.
