NATO is confident that Ukraine duly guarantees the safety of weapons provided by allies

NATO is confident that Ukraine properly secures and accounts for weapons received from allies in the exercise of the right to self-defense against Russian aggression.

This follows a comment by an Alliance spokesman on an article previously published by the Financial Times with the headline "NATO and the EU sound the alarm over the risk of arms smuggling by Ukraine," Interfax-Ukraine reported.

"NATO allies stand in full solidarity with the leadership and people of Ukraine in the heroic defense of their country. We help defend Ukraine's basic right to self-defense with an unprecedented level of support. We are confident in the Ukrainian leadership's commitment to the due safety and accountability of allied weapons," the commentary reads.

Earlier, the European Union made a similar statement.

According to EU foreign and security policy spokesman Peter Stano, Russia has launched an intensive disinformation campaign against Ukraine, the EU and NATO, claiming "arms smuggling" supplied by allies.

"We can't talk about NATO, but from the perspective of the EU, Russian propaganda and disinformation makes such attempts very regularly and massively. In fact, all information coming from the Kremlin or from the Ministry of Defense or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (of Russia. - Ed.) is such massive propaganda and common lies," Stano said.

As a reminder, in a high-profile interview with European Pravda, congresswoman Victoria Spartz noted the alleged obstacles in establishing oversight of US military aid to Ukraine.
