Ukraine expects "only a miracle" from the NATO summit

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba admitted that he does not expect positive decisions for Ukraine at the NATO summit to be held in Madrid on June 28-30.

He stated this at a press conference on Wednesday.

The minister stressed that he considers it correct to criticize the Alliance, which sounds in Ukraine.

"I was criticized here for saying that NATO as an organization did nothing for Ukraine after February 23, 2022. Then I asked: show me what the Alliance has done? And it turned out that there were no such decisions," he explained.

Based on this, the minister explained that he does not expect breakthrough decisions at the summit of the Alliance.

"I don't have high expectations from the NATO summit in Madrid. My realistic expectation of the NATO summit is that a miracle will happen there," he added, again emphasizing that he would be glad to be wrong and see breakthrough decisions in support of Ukraine, but would consider it a "miracle."

"Certainly we will hear words of support, words of solidarity, but so far I do not see any signs of powerful solutions that the Alliance is preparing on Ukraine or even solutions on Black Sea security," the minister explained.

This is not the first time Kuleba has criticized NATO for insufficient solutions.

As it was reported, Georgia will be invited to the NATO summit. Ukraine also has an invitation, but it is unknown what the level of presence will be due to logistical considerations.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian government has already hinted at Ukraine's movement into NATO amid Russian threats to Finland and Sweden.
