Zelensky: Russia Will Not Guarantee Ukraine's Security

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia will not be among the guarantors of Ukraine's security.

He said this in an interview with ICTV broadcast on Saturday in a telethon format.

"Today we are considering the circle of security guarantors from partner states that we trust. We are developing this project with them. We have developed it," the president said.

He made it clear that Russia will not become a guarantor of Ukrainian security under this treaty.

"We want a separate treaty. Today it has come to the point that this treaty provides for a circle of partner states around Ukraine without Russia. Security guarantors without Russia. Bucha has changed some things," Zelensky noted.

According to the President, the bilateral conversation with Russia and the Russian President must take place separately from the treaty on security guarantees.

He noted that negotiations with Russia are possible, because the condition of preserving the lives of the defenders of Mariupol was fulfilled.

"Today we see, they gave an opportunity, found a form for these people to be alive, and they took them out. Next there will be an exchange. On the results of these processes also depends a lot," - added the president.

Zelenski stressed - it is important that the agreement on security guarantees is not a piece of paper, but a reality, and that it becomes the basis of state security.

Zelensky also said that the end of the war with Russia would be "diplomatic".

Zelensky confirmed that he would consider the return to the February 23, 2022 line as a victory, and he wants to solve the rest of the issues at the negotiating table.
