Canada imposed new sanctions against Russia

The new sanctions were imposed on "14 individuals, including Russian oligarchs, members of their families, and close associates of the Putin regime. This was reported on the website of the Canadian Foreign Ministry.

Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly said Canada is imposing new sanctions under regulations on special economic measures against Russia in response to Putin's invasion of Ukraine.

"These new measures impose restrictions on 14 individuals, including Russian oligarchs, their families and close entourage of the Putin regime. These individuals directly contributed to Vladimir Putin's senseless war in Ukraine and are responsible for the pain and suffering of the people of Ukraine," the announcement reads.

In addition, today's announcement contains a ban on exports of targeted luxury goods, as well as a ban on imports of targeted luxury goods from and into the Russian Federation.

The Canadian government also imposes a ban on exports of goods that can be used in the production of weapons.
