Weapons supplies to Ukraine must be increased and sanctions against Russia must be toughened. British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has said that it is necessary to put pressure on Russia.

"It is now very important that we continue to put pressure on Vladimir Putin by supplying Ukraine with more weapons and tightening sanctions," she told reporters after arriving at the G7 foreign ministers' meeting in Germany.

As a reminder, the G7 foreign ministers will meet on May 13-14. The annual meeting, which runs through Saturday, brings together senior diplomats from Britain, Canada, Germany, Italy, France, Japan, the United States and the European Union at the Baltic resort of Weissenhaus.

The foreign ministers of Ukraine and Moldova are also present Friday, and the most industrialized countries of the West intend to reaffirm their support for the two countries.
