2,665 civilians killed in Ukraine since war began - UN

The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (UHCHR) has recorded 2,665 deaths and 3,053 injuries of Ukrainian civilians as a result of the full-scale Russian invasion. This is stated in the UHCHR daily statement for April 25.

It is noted that the dead include 855 men, 563 women, 59 girls and 69 boys, as well as 67 children and 1,052 adults whose gender is not yet known. In addition, 355 men, 284 women, 64 girls, 71 boys, as well as 161 children and 2,118 adults, gender unknown, were wounded.

Most deaths and injuries were due to the use of high-explosive munitions and explosives, including heavy artillery and multiple rocket launchers, as well as rocket and air strikes.

OHCHR believes that the actual figures are significantly higher, as information from some locations where intense fighting continues to take place is delayed and many reports are still awaiting confirmation.

This applies, for example, to Mariupol and Volnovakha (Donetsk region), Izyum (Kharkiv region), Severodonetsk and Rubizhne (Luhansk region), and Trostyanets (Sumy region), where there are reports of numerous civilian casualties.
