Germany and France will not pay for gas in rubles

Germany and France will not pay for Russian gas in rubles. European countries believe that the Russian side must comply with the contracts, which do not specify the payment in this currency. This is reported by Die Welt.

"Contracts must be respected, all parties I have heard agree on this," said German Economy Minister Robert Habek.

He clarified that it is crucial for Germany and France that all the terms of the contracts are respected.

"It is important for us to send a signal: we will not allow Putin to blackmail us," he added.

French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire holds the same view.

"Contracts in euros must be paid in euros and will be paid in euros," he said.
