The Israeli Foreign Ministry summoned the Ukrainian ambassador over accusations of "pro-Russian rhetoric"

The Israeli Foreign Ministry summons Ukrainian Ambassador Yevgeny Korniychuk to be reprimanded over accusations of Yair Lapid's "pro-Russian rhetoric," reports Obozrevatel.

Earlier, the Israeli foreign minister said that he "does not foresee a violent conflict" between Ukraine and Russia in the near future.

Israeli officials have reportedly spoken to Russian officials about the need for de-escalation. Lapid also plans to talk to his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov about this in the coming days.

Ukraine's ambassador to Israel disagreed with Lapid, who used the term "conflict" instead of "war" to describe the situation.

"It is a pity that Mr. Lapid did not notice the war in the center of Europe, which has been going on for eight years. Unfortunately, the minister repeats the rhetoric of Russian propaganda and ignores the alarming messages from his strongest allies - the United States, Britain and the EU regarding the high possibility of a full-scale Russian military invasion of Ukraine," the Ukrainian ambassador said in a statement.

As a result, after these words, Korniychuk was summoned to be reprimanded. Jerusalem has not yet set a date for a meeting between the Ukrainian ambassador and the deputy foreign minister.
