Security in Europe - Political Director of the EU diplomatic service arrived in Moscow

Deputy Secretary General and Political Director of the European External Action Service Enrique Mora has arrived in Moscow on an official visit. On the agenda are relations between Russia and the EU, foreign policy issues and European security. The diplomat wrote about it in his Twitter, writes UNN.

"I am in Moscow for talks with Russian colleagues. On the agenda will be the bilateral relations between the EU and Russia, foreign policy issues and the architecture of European security. The principles reiterated by EU foreign ministers last Friday in Brest are at the heart of the community's position," Enrique Mora wrote.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said that in the face of threats from Russia, the European Union must remain firm, united and act. It is necessary to return to the common principles of security architecture in Europe based on international law.

Borrell noted that Russia threatens Ukraine and calls into question the security architecture of Europe.

Thus, EU foreign ministers at a meeting in Brest, France, on Jan. 14 agreed on a unified 10-point approach to the crisis between the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and Russia through Ukraine.

The approach combines measures to contain Russia and opportunities for dialogue. One point is to continue preparing coordinated sanctions with the U.S. and allies; another is the possibility of confidence-building through arms control talks.
