NCSREU fined Naftogaz

The National Commission for State Regulation in Energy and Utilities (NCSREU) at a meeting on Friday fined Naftogaz of Ukraine for not allowing the regulator's representatives to inspect the company in November this year, Interfax-Ukraine reported.

In particular, the regulator imposed on Naftogaz 850 thousand UAH maximum fine for non-admission of inspectors to the facility during a scheduled inspection of NJSC gas supply activities over the past four years and three more fines of 102 thousand UAH each for non-admission during three unscheduled inspections, which were carried out due to relevant appeals to NCSREU by market participants and consumers.

"I do not know whether the head of the company - Yuriy Vitrenko - was informed about these unauthorized inspections, but I will definitely inform him personally about these inspections," Valery Tarasyuk, head of the NCSREU, said during the meeting.

"Naftogaz of Ukraine" unites the largest oil and gas producers of the country (100% of "Ukrgazvydobuvannya" and 50% +1 share of "Ukrnafta"). The group is a monopolist in natural gas storage in underground storage facilities (100% Ukrtransgaz) and oil transportation by pipeline across the country (100% Ukrtransnafta) and is actively developing gas supplies to residential customers.
