G7 ambassadors urged to avoid the absence of the NABU director

Ambassadors of the Group of Seven countries advocated for a transparent and competitive selection of the new director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and called to avoid a situation with the absence of a director.

This was reported by "European Pravda".

As noted, the ambassadors met with NABU director Artem Sytnik to discuss the progress of the bureau in the fight against corruption in Ukraine.

"The ambassadors reaffirmed their steadfast commitment to support the independence of the NABU and other anti-corruption institutions in Ukraine," the ambassadors said on Twitter.

"The ambassadors stressed that the process of selecting a new director for the position should be transparent, competitive and conducted within such a timeframe to avoid a situation with an absent director. The delay in the election of a new Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor should not be repeated," the message reads.

We would like to point out that on 20 October the G7 ambassadors welcomed the adoption by parliament of the law "On introducing amendments to some laws of Ukraine on bringing the status of the National Anticorruption Bureau of Ukraine in line with the requirements of the Constitution of Ukraine".
