This is an information and psychological operation - Defense Ministry on the accumulation of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine

The US newspaper The Washington Post, quoting anonymous officials as saying that Russian troops are again concentrated on the Ukrainian border, has been described in Ukraine as an information and psychological operation conducted by Moscow.

This was stated by Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Anna Malyar on the program "Freedom of Speech" on the TV channel ICTV.

"As of today, the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine does not record the movement of troops or any atypical increase or approach of troops on the border of Ukraine. What is happening is interpreted as planned activities as part of the movement of troops after the end of the exercise. And we are not alone in recording cases that before some international meetings this or that information is amplified and information provocations appear. These are informational and psychological operations carried out by Russia, which is why there is an endless spread of information that does not correspond to reality. We try to respond in time and refute it," said Anna Malyar.

The spokesperson of the Defense Ministry expressed the opinion that before such information reaches the press, it should have been reported to the country's leadership, which would have made a corresponding statement.

"I must say that we continue to monitor the movements of the troops of the aggressor country, the quantitative changes, the accumulation of these troops, the approach to the state border, and when information appears in the press or in social media, so that people do not think that this is the first time it appears. First it appears to military intelligence, and then to the military and political leadership of Ukraine," Malyar noted.
